Japanese encephalitis virus is a type of brain infection caused by mosquito bites (culix mosquito) that causes inflammation of the brain according to Dr. Froilan Obillo.
Meanwhile, nine have been confirmed dead and 133 have been diagnosed with Japanese Encephalitis from January to August. The culex mosquito can be found in rice fields, or agricultural areas. These mosquitoes attack from 9 pm to 3 am.
Patients who have been confirmed to be infected with the virus may be experiencing symptoms or may feel drowsiness, disorientation and confusion there is also a severe case of coma. They recorded 3 out of every 10 people with the JE virus-infected fatality rate. There is also a vaccine but the DOH does not recommend it during the rainy season.
